Hyouten Dines: Cheesecake Factory

I love cheesecake. Very much. And ever since I laid eyes on this restaurant, it has always been my hidden want to eat at this place. I mean, a factory of cheesecakes? Yes please! And now that I finally got the chance to do so, I am blown away.

And one more thing. You may notice I didn’t make a separate category for this place nor did I choose one aside from Food and Restaurants. If you’ve already been to this place, you already know why. If you haven’t been to this place, I’ll explain in a bit.

And again, since this place has several locations nationwide, I’ll just talk about the location I have been to.

Kind of food?
Aside from cheesecakes as implied by the name, they have a whole variety of food selections. They have like 20-ish pages of menu. They got everything covered from pizza to burgers to steak to seafood to pasta to salad to anything else you can think of. This is why I couldn’t choose a specific subcategory. Oh and huge slices of cake.

Price
Don’t come in here with a small budget. No worries though, it’s not super expensive. It will be worth it (or at least I think so).

Food Evaluation
Generally, it’s very good. Their Shrimp and Chicken Gumbo is great, their Catfish is great, their Bleu Cheese BLT Burger is great, their White Pizza is great. Now I’m not saying that it will be the exact same greatness everytime you come here. There will be minor variations that may or may not take away from your food enjoyment, and you can blame that on whoever the chef is for that day. I say this because the first time I had my Shrimp and Chicken Gumbo, it was exceptional. The chicken pieces just melted in my mouth and the shrimp was firm yet tender. The portion had a balanced amount of chicken and shrimp and andouille sausage pieces. None of them overpowered the whole dish. Now my second time wasn’t as great. It was still good, but there was something different about it. The chicken became the regular chicken you usually get from the breast portion. It’s still soft but you feel the threads of the meat this time. There was barely any shrimp and sausage pieces. The shrimp was a bit too tender. The cream also tasted like it came from the bottom of the pot where all the chili powder sat on. It wasn’t quite as balanced, to say the least.

I also had the opportunity to take bites of the other food they offer. Their Bleu Cheese BLT Burger was great. It’s probably the second best burger I’ve had next to the Big Ugly from Bub’s (cough). It’s very juicy, very tender, and the patty itself just breaks down easily as you chew on it. Judging from the size of it, I won’t be surprised if it’s at least a half-pound burger. The trimmings are there too, in large portions of course. Very nice. Their fried catfish is also awesome. Nice, flaky fish with just enough breading on it. The breading doesn’t take away from the fish itself, it adds onto it. You get a hint of sweetness at the back of the tongue while you enjoy the softness of the fist and the subtle spices on it. Very balanced.

Oh and this one of those places that give you bread before you get your food. Their bread is obviously always warm and served with butter. I like the butter that they give you. It’s not Country Crock, it’s something else. I forgot the name. They always give you two kinds of breads: some sort of wheat and sourdough. The brown one (I somehow like to call it chocolate bread) goes super well with the butter. Oh and the bread they give you are about 4-6 inch slices. They’re quick to give you more if you run out, unlike that one other place. *coughlonghorncough*

Their cheesecake? Oh my goodness. Best cheesecake I ever had, handsdown. I even like it way more than my own cheesecake! The cream cheese is balanced very well. The first one I had was the White Chocolate Blueberry cheesecake. I should have taken a picture of it because it’s a big slice. If you do manage to completely finish your huge main course, you’re not gonna be able to finish this cheesecake. Easily shareable. Going back to its quality, it’s heavenly. The white chocolate shaving balances perfectly with the cream cheese. The blueberry slices in the middle give it a nice touch too, just to remind you that you’re not just eating a huge dollop of cheese and chocolate.

The second cheesecake I got is extra special. You see, we went there for my birthday and my partner’s dad told our server that it was my birthday. When they served our cheesecake, Reeses Peanut Butter Chocolate Cake Cheesecake, it had a candle on top of that big pile of whipped cream. Look at the picture for more details :)

Let’s talk about that cheesecake whose name is a mouthful. It’s a huge slice, bigger than the White Chocolate Blueberry. It’s a layer of chocolate cake, cheesecake, chocolate, and crushed reese’s. With big, honking dollop of creamy peanut butter. It screams of sugar and calories, but I don’t care because it’s freaking heavenly. Oh my goodness. You have to tilt it down on its side to properly eat it. Oh and I should mention the surrounding crust of it. It’s small bricks of chocolate. It’s a chocolate lover’s dream come true.

Did I mention their portions are always huge?

Service Evaluation
On the two times I’ve been to this place, the service always have been great. Our servers are upbeat and really seem to enjoy what they’re doing. Their knowledge of the menu is impressive considering how the menu is huge. They’re very attentive and are quick to provide you with what you need. I also love how they automatically give you a spoon for you to use. I know this is a personal preference now but I always eat with a spoon, and I always find it a little bit of a hassle to have to ask for one. Cheesecake Factory saves me the trouble. Wait times on food are not that long either, which is good. I don’t think I have anything else to say about their service.

Location Evaluation
Given the price range of this restaurant (which is at least 13 bucks, I’d say), it’s no surprise that this restaurant is one of the establishments located on that whole Keystone Crossing lot. The Keystone Mall have several namebrand stores that always attract high-end people. This location is very close to the Sheraton Hotel, so if you happen to stay there you can just walk to the attached mall and find your way in here. Cheesecake Factory is located in between stores, so you’re shopping and suddenly get hungry, you can stop by here. You can easily see it when you’re on the road, so there’s no way you’ll miss it.

The interior of the restaurant itself seems like it’s playing with the color brown. Brown walls, brown doors, brown ceiling, brown everything. The outside of the building is designed to look like an arabian place with arabian domes, and the walls inside look like they’re made of desert sand. I don’t get it but I thought it was cool.

TLDR Evaluation and Rating
Cheesecake Factory is a wonderful place to eat if you have the budget. Definitely should try it if you find one.
